Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested late Monday night a home invasion suspect who was wanted out of Chatham County.

The Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department contacted the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in locating Joshua Desmit, who was wanted in connection with a home invasion.

Deputies found Joshua Desmit, 28, of Ellabell, at a residence in the 200 block of Saddlehorn Lane shortly before midnight. Desmit, who was wanted for several charges including aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property, burglary, and influencing a witness, was taken to the Effingham County Jail.

Desmit is being charged with aggravated assault, burglary, theft by receiving stolen property and influencing witnesses.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
