ECSO arrests Port Wentworth fugitive

Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Rincon man wanted on several charges in Port Wentworth.

Deputies apprehended Andre Bowens, 29, of Port Wentworth in the Kroger’s parking lot just after 6 p.m. Monday without incident. Bowens was wanted on several charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery and burglary. Port Wentworth police say Bowens stabbed his girlfriend five times last Saturday morning.

He also had warrants for his arrest for probation violation in Effingham. Bowens was released from Rogers State Prison last October. He had been convicted in Effingham County of burglary, criminal damage in the second degree and terroristic threats and acts.

He is being held in the Effingham County Jail.
