ECSO arrests two in meth bust Monday

Two people are in custody after Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a methamphetamine lab at a residence on Goshen Road.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Unit conducted an operation Monday afternoon that led to the recovery of the lab, several prescription pills and the arrest of the two suspects.

Jacquelyn Malphus, 23, of Rincon, and William Eric Malphus, 30, of Rincon, were arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of tools during the commission of a crime, and possession of a controlled substance.

They also were charged with manufacturing meth in front of a child.

Additional charges and arrests are expected as the investigation is ongoing.
