The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in a burglary that took place on Abercorn Road in Effingham County on Saturday afternoon.

Deputies responded to a burglary at an Abercorn Road residence Saturday afternoon where tens of thousands of dollars worth of items were taken, including flat screen televisions and jewelry.

“They did this in broad daylight,” said ECSO Detective David Ehsanipoor.

A credit card that was taken from the burglary was used at several locations in Savannah, including a local gas station on Beach Street shortly after the burglary.

“It was very shortly after the burglary,” Ehsanipoor said.

Investigators have obtained video surveillance of a suspect who used one of the stolen credit cards at an automatic teller machine. He is seen exiting the passenger side of a white sedan, possibly a Cadillac, and entering the store.

“We think there are multiple people involved,” Ehsanipoor said.

The man in the video image is a person of interest in other burglaries, but ECSO investigators are not sure if Saturday’s incident is related to other reported burglaries.

Some of the stolen credit cards may have been used at an area Home Depot, but a clerk asked for photo identification with the credit cards. When none could be produced, those holding those cards left without making a purchase.

Anyone who is able to identify the suspect is asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 754-3449.
