Rincon police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of a generator and a chop saw from a local store.

Police arrested Danny Loudermilk, 30, of Rincon, after Loudermilk voluntarily came in for an interview with Detective David Vales about the incident.

“When I confronted him with the evidence, he confessed,” Vales said.

The interview lasted about an hour, Vales said. The owner of the company where the generator and chop saw were stolen said Loudermilk may have worked at that store previously.

Loudermilk is being held in the Effingham County Jail and is being charged with one count of theft by taking and one count of entering an auto.

Rincon police also are still trying to track down an air conditioning theft ring. Two more air conditioning units were stolen Wednesday night. Thieves are believed to be stealing the air conditioners for the copper inside.

If anyone has information on the thefts or on where air conditioning units are being dumped after the crimes, they are asked to call the Rincon Police Department at 826-5200.
