Suspected child molester turns himself in

A suspected child molester turned himself into the Effingham County Jail late Friday night.

Investigators had been looking for Ryan Adam Bowen and deputies followed several leads on his whereabouts.

“We received several credible tips on his whereabouts,” said Effingham County Sheriff’s Detective David Ehsanipoor. “He knew we were on him.”

Bowen has been charged for child molestation, sexual battery, enticing a child for indecent purposes and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Additional charges are pending.

According to reports, Bowen was furnishing illegal drugs to a 14-year-old girl and was conducting a sexual relationship with her.

Bowen is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail without bond.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
