A woman who was hired to clean houses instead cleaned them out of the owners’ jewelry, according to investigators.

Sylve Edwards, 38, of Ellabell was arrested by Sylvania Police on Monday on charges that she stole jewelry from homes in Effingham and Bulloch counties. She has been booked into Effingham County Jail.

Edwards was working for a cleaning service and took gold and silver jewelry items from customer’s residences, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators identified three victims in Effingham County and one in Bulloch County, but there may be more victims as some recovered items have not been identified.

The case remains under investigation by the Effingham and Bulloch sheriff’s offices.
