Two suspects are in custody after they allegedly burglarized a south Effingham convenience store Friday morning, according to Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies.

Brandon Williams, 17, of Bloomingdale, and Travis Cooler, 17, of Bloomingdale, have been charged with burglary and criminal damage to property.

Shortly after midnight, deputies responded to the BP convenience store at Highway 80 on the report of a burglar alarm. A deputy patrolling nearby spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the scene.

Deputies made contact with the occupants of the vehicle on Highway 80. After investigating, it was determined that both male suspects burglarized the store, taking several items including cigarettes and beer. Upon further investigation, it was discovered the suspects also broke the front glass at a convenience store at Jabez Jones Road and Highway 30, setting off the alarm. No items were discovered to be taken from that store.

Cooler and Williams were taken to the Effingham County Jail.
