ATLANTA—The Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Child Support Services encourages those who are behind on their child support payments to take advantage of the annual Back to School Settlement Day event. 

 

Settlement Day gives non-custodial parents an opportunity to make a payment on past due balances before the school year begins. The goal of the Back to School Settlement Day is to help children reach their potential in school by having the financial support they need.

 

“Settlement Day is yet another way to help non-custodial parents who may have fallen behind on their child support,” said Keith Horton, director of the Division of Child Support Services. “There are so many things children need in order to succeed in school and this event is geared towards making sure that children are provided for financially as they start the new school year.”

 

Individuals who are behind on their child support have until July 20 to make a payment toward their total past due balance in addition to their regular payment. Non-custodial parents who wish to settle their past due balances can do so during the week of July 19 by visiting their local child support office. 

 

All DCSS offices will be closed on Friday due to furloughs.

 

Local offices do not accept cash and there is a $1.50 transaction fee for processing each payment.

Mail: Send certified checks or money orders to: DCSS Family Support Registry, P.O. Box 1600, Carrollton, GA 30112-1600. Please be sure to include your name and social security number on all payments.

 

Online Payment: Individuals can register at https://ga.smartchildsupport.com to make online payments via draft from their bank account.

Debit/Credit Card:  Submit payment using debit or credit cards through the Georgia Division of Children Support Services’ web site at www.ocse.dhr.georgia.gov.
