SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has reported that a man is deceased and another man is seriously injured after an accident during a high-performance driver education event.

The Porsche Club of America was hosting a two-day event  that started Friday.

An experienced 70-year-old driver failed to navigate the vehicle and crashed just before the first turn at Robeling Road Raceway near Bloomingdal where the event was being held.

An instructor was in the vehicle as well and was airlifted to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the crash is currently being investigated.
