Effingham County’s Senior 4-H members participated in the 2025 Georgia 4-H Senior Conference, held at Rock Eagle 4-H Center April 5-6. They joined more than 370 high school 4-H’ers from across the state for a weekend of connection, exploration, and growth.

This year’s conference theme, “Chasing Dreams with Georgia 4-H,” encouraged students to look toward their futures with optimism and purpose. One of the highlights of the event was a College and Career Fair, which featured 18 institutions from across Georgia. This provided youth the opportunity to explore future academic and professional pathways while networking with college representatives.

The conference was presented by Piedmont Athens Regional, whose team led three hands-on workshops focused on emergency readiness and safety. Youth took part in introductory sessions on vital life-saving techniques including CPR, choking prevention, and “stop the bleed” methods—skills that could one day help them save lives.

Throughout the weekend, youth participated in service activities aimed at spreading kindness within their communities, reinforcing the 4-H commitment to leadership and service.

Leadership for the conference was provided in part by collegiate 4-H chapters from the University of Georgia, Kennesaw State University, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, who led sessions on preparing for higher education and navigating the college application process.

No Senior Conference would be complete without the 4-H Prom—a semi-formal dinner and social gathering that gave participants a chance to unwind, celebrate 4-H friendships, and make lasting memories.

Effingham County was represented by: Dalton Holler, Angel Negron Irizarry, Abigail Williamson, Abbie Sulkowski, Madison Schroeder, and Chloe Campbell. These young leaders dove into every aspect of the conference with enthusiasm, gaining valuable insights and lifelong experiences along the way.

“Senior Conference is more than just a fun weekend at Rock Eagle,” said Morgan Triplett, 4-H Coordinator for Effingham County. “It’s a valuable opportunity for students to explore future college options, master the college application process, and build connections with their peers and college representatives.”
