SPRINGFIELD -- Effingham County’s Days at the Capitol is Feb. 9-10 in Atlanta. The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce reports that this highly anticipated event is officially sold out.
Designed to bring together local leaders, state officials, and community stakeholders, this annual gathering under the Gold Dome offers a unique platform to showcase Effingham’s successes, advocate for its priorities, and highlight its vision for the future.
Over the course of two days, attendees will experience a thoughtfully curated program that blends education, advocacy, and connection.
The event kicks off with presentations emphasizing Effingham’s focus on growth and collaboration, including a presentation from County Manager Tim Callanan, who will outline Effingham’s ongoing infrastructure investments and future transportation priorities. His discussion will cover the strategic initiatives driving growth and preparing the county for expanded opportunities. This session sets the tone for the event by focusing on the collaborative efforts fueling Effingham’s success.
Additionally, key leaders, including Rep. Bill Hitchens and Rep. Ron Stephens, will discuss tourism initiatives and strategies to position Effingham as a premier destination in Georgia. The day concludes with a welcome reception presented by Thomas & Hutton.
The second day will focus on engaging directly with state leaders. Attendees will start the day with a visit to GDOT headquarters to discuss infrastructure and transportation priorities vital to Effingham’s continued growth. Lunch will feature addresses from state leaders on topics such as public health, economic development, and legislative initiatives. The day's highlight will be the Georgia House legislative session, where a resolution will be presented recognizing Effingham County’s collaborative efforts and achievements.
The event will conclude with a legislative reception hosted by Ameris Bank, providing a unique opportunity for attendees to network with policymakers in an informal setting. This reception underscores the importance of fostering meaningful connections to ensure that Effingham County’s voice is heard at the state level.

Presented in partnership with the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority, this year’s event promises to leave a lasting impact, equipping attendees with the insights and connections needed to support Effingham County’s position as a hub for innovation, growth, and opportunity within the Coastal Empire.
Since attendees will be traveling back to Effingham County Feb. 10, regularly scheduled city council meetings have been canceled or rescheduled. The Rincon City Council meeting scheduled for Feb. 10 has been canceled. The Guyton City Council meeting scheduled for Feb. 11, has been rescheduled for Feb. 12. Springfield City Council will meet as scheduled Feb. 11.
