Special to the Herald

With Girl Scout Cookie Season entering the third weekend of booth sales, Effingham County Girl Scouts have delivered more than 20,000 boxes to their customers so far.

Much of this work is done at booths where girls learn customer service, time management, financial accountability, and marketing. Every Girl Scout is held to the highest standard of etiquette set forth by Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and their troop leadership. To ensure these standards are being met, GSHG sends out “Booth Sleuths,” council affiliates who randomly inspect council booths. Anjuli King, a member of the board with GSHG and fellow Effingham County resident, “sleuthed” the booth of troop 30235, who passed inspection with ease. The troop is led by Carolyn Metroz.

When the inspection is satisfactory, the “sleuth” reveals themselves and presents the Girl Scouts with an exclusive patch to display on their vest or sash. A successful inspection inspires confidence in their entrepreneurship and instills pride for a job well done. An unsuccessful booth is a learning opportunity. These Girl Scouts finished out their booth knowing that they are providing exemplary service to their community and GSHG. They’ve all got the patch to prove it!
