Georgia DNR to host climate change workshop

BRUNSWICK—Officials who are addressing climate change in their communities will be meeting in Savannah on July 28 at a “Preparing for Climate Change” workshop to be hosted by Georgia DNR/Coastal Resources Division (CRD) and Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve.
 
Workshop attendees will hear from a variety of experts about climate impacts to Southeast shorelines and how other governments are taking on the challenge of preparing for climate change. During the workshop, officials from local, state and federal governments, non-governmental organizations, non-formal educators and resources managers will hear from state Sen. Buddy Carter, DNR Commissioner Chris Clark, experts from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida and from NOAA.

Guyton councilman indicted on five felonies in city credit card case
Hamby indicted
Guyton City Councilman Theodore Hamby indicted on five counts.
Guyton City Councilman Theodore Hamby was indicted Monday on five felony charges related to the alleged misuse of a city credit card. The indictment includes three counts of financial transaction card fraud and two counts of making false statements. Hamby, 26, is accused of making more than $400 in unauthorized purchases and lying to a GBI agent during the investigation. He denies the charges.
