Guardrail work to shut down I-16 ramp

Georgia Department of Transportation maintenance crews will temporarily close the Exit 164B/Lynes Parkway ramp from I-16 East to I-516 West, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday for guardrail work on I-16. 
 
Motorists will be detoured as follows:
 
• From I-95: Motorists traveling on I-16 East, wanting to access I-516 West, should take Exit 160/Highway 307/Dean Forest Road and turn right on Highway 307/ Dean Forest Road; then turn left onto U.S. 17/Highway 25 to I-516 West.
 
• From Chatham Parkway: Motorists traveling on I-16 East from Chatham Parkway, wanting to access I-516 West/Lynes Parkway, should take Exit 164A to I-516 East/Lynes Parkway; then take Exit 4/Tremont Road and take the right fork at the bottom of the ramp; then travel on Tremont Road/Second Avenue to the I-516 West onramp and return to I-516.                                   
 
This is a work zone and extreme caution is necessary, DOT officials advised. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds as they travel through this construction work zone. Message signs, barrels and cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes.
