SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Crimes Against Children Division has made another arrest after concluding its investigation of Joseph Canaan Johnson, 44. of Guyton.

Johnson was arrested Thursday for downloading and possessing child pornography. He was taken into custody at his girlfriend’s home in Effingham County.

A search warrant was conducted and Johnson was found to be in possession of thousands of images of child pornography, some with children as young as 6 years old.

Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Effingham County Jail and charged with sexual exploitation of children.
