Guyton residents seriously injured in head-on Benton Boulevard crash

For reasons unknown, the Taurus crossed the center line Thursday morning and struck the Forte in the northbound lanes.

SAVANNAH -- Savannah Police’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a head-on collision on Benton Boulevard early Thursday that resulted in serious injuries to several occupants.

Just after midnight, a Ford Taurus, driven by Kerri Beasley, 36, of Savannah, was traveling south on Benton Boulevard approaching Godley Way at the same time that a Kia Forte, driven by Donovan Matthews, 18, of Guyton, was traveling north on Benton Boulevard. For reasons unknown, the Taurus crossed the center line and struck the Forte in the northbound lanes.

Both drivers, as well as Lauryn Matthews, 18, of Guyton, who was a passenger in the Forte, were transported to Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries.
