Scott Hinson, owner of Hinson’s Georgia Market, and his wife Sue Nell have announced his intention to run for chief magistrate of Effingham County.

Hinson, son of Brig. Gen. (ret.) Elton F. and Elizabeth Hinson, is a graduate of Mercer University with a bachelor of arts in psychology. He served as a business leader on the school council of Effingham County Middle School under the leadership of Bobbie Allen from 2005-07. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Entrepreneur Task Force for the Effingham Chamber of Commerce.

Hinson is a member of the community advisory board for Georgia Pacific and has been chosen as a member of the board of directors for the Effingham Chamber of Commerce for the years 2008-12. He is a member of Springfield United Methodist Church.

“The office of Magistrate requires patience, fairness, intelligence and good business sense,” said Frank W. “Sonny” Seiler. “I have practiced law in this area for over 50 years, and in my opinion Scott Hinson possesses all of the qualities necessary to successfully fulfill this office. I commend him highly.”

Said local attorney Warren Ratchford: “Scott is a fine example of young people coming to Effingham County and giving of their time and energy.”
