SPRINGFIELD -- On Saturday around 10:30 p.m., 41-year-old George Mitchell Hewitt of Gilbert, S.C., was killed in a single-vehicle accident.

Hewitt was traveling on Highbluff Road when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert. He was not wearing a seatbet.

Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
