The GBI crime lab in Savannah is expected to perform an autopsy on a man who was found on Highway 21 near Westwood Drive on Sunday afterooon.
Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 1:30 p.m. to a report of a man not breathing and lying in the roadway. Deputies found the man in the roadway next to a bicycle. Bystanders on scene performed CPR until emergency personnel arrived.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he later died.
