Paint and Peace

Free "Paint and Peace" event Aug. 22

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire will host a special “Paint & Peace” event, which is free and open to the public Aug. 22 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Attendees of all ages are invited to paint peace circles. The peace circles will be collected to create the Manifesting Peace Mobile that will be displayed at the third annual Peace in the Park celebration on Sept. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Daffin Park in Savannah.

Local artist Joanne Morton will lead the painting activity at The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire and will help attendees manifest, express, and celebrate peace.

 “Paint & Peace” is part of The Mediation Center’s 100 Days of Intentional Peacebuilding community outreach campaign, which is designed to raise awareness of the importance of peace in the Savannah community and to celebrate local peacebuilding efforts.

Gnann Family reunion set

Rincon resident among new nurses

Southeastern Technical College (STC) pinned the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Bridge Option graduates from the Swainsboro campus and the Practical Nursing (PN) Vidalia campus graduates on Aug. 5, in Vidalia’s Toombs Auditorium.

Among the graduating class of 24 students was Tiffany Emsweller from Rincon.

Southeastern Tech faculty and staff honored the accomplishments of the graduates before an assembled crowd of friends and family. The ceremony recognized the important contribution of friends and family supporting these students throughout their education.

In nursing school tradition, pins were placed on each student and the class recited the nurse’s pledge of service – signifying their entrance into their new ranks.

ASN Instructor Ginny Ennis said, “I am inspired by this group and fortunate to be part of building the next generation. STC has a very clear mission of providing an excellent workforce to our communities. I like the way it is executed in reality.”

T-shirt design contest open for the 2024 Run Forrest Run 5K

Beaufort, SC – The Beaufort Digital Corridor hosts a T-shirt design contest to find a fresh design to adorn its race gear for the 2024 Run Forrest Run 5K.

The race organizers have opened the contest to creatives living both locally and internationally. The winning design will combine the charm of the Forrest Gump movie and a love for running through the Lowcountry. The prize package includes a $300 cash prize and two race vouchers to participate in the 5K. As the contest closes on Aug. 31, artists should submit their designs as soon as possible.

The Run Forrest Run 5K is set for Oct. 5. Early-bird registration is open through Sept. 1.
