Presbyterian College names executive officers of Hispanic organization

Special to the Herald

CLINTON, SC -- Three Presbyterian College students – including one from Rincon -- have been named officers of the college's Hispanic Appreciation Organization.

Officers are:

  • President -- Cecilia Perez Santiago, a junior from Clinton, South Carolina
  • Vice President -- Johannah Bodkin, a senior from Summerville, South Carolina; and
  • Social Media Chair -- Briana Santiago-Swindell, a senior from Rincon.

The HAO promotes Hispanic culture through events and education programs on campus and accepts students who are of Hispanic descent or simply interested in the culture.

The HAO hosts film screenings, dance parties, speakers, and other cultural events. A notable honoring event of families who have passed was the ofrenda inside of the college's student center where students could honor their loved ones at the altar for Dia De Los Muertos. Food is also very popular at these events as students can try foods from different cultures.

Inspired by the motto, "While We Live, We Serve," Presbyterian College celebrates an enduring culture of academic rigor, honor, and service worthy of being "America's Innovative Service College."
