RINCON -- Effingham Health System rode a wave of change in 2017. It made a series of advances in care and received a change at the top.
Fran Baker-Witt took the reins of Effingham Health System in January after being named its CEO. A registered nurse, she served in key leadership positions for 17 years before joining Effingham Health System in January 2016.
Baker-Witt was elevated to CEO following the abrupt retirement of Norma Jean Morgan. She carried an interim tag from June 2016 until receiving the permanent nod.
One of the highlights of Baker-Witt’s first year on the job was the March 21 On Tuesday, March 21 grand opening of the Cancer Care Center.
“Now our local cancer patients can receive expert medical oncology care right here, close to home,” Baker-Witt said. “The tremendous amount of time saved traveling for treatment will make it easier for them—and their families — to focus on healing.”
