SPRINGFIELD -- A Veterans Day ceremony featuring guest speaker Lt. Col. Glyn Goldwire is set for Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park of Effingham County.A Springfield native and battalion commander at Fort Stewart, Goldwire said, “I grew up about a mile from the park and know of its continuing recognition of all who served and continue to serve our country.”Goldwire has received a Bronze Star and other awards for meritorious service. He has served in Afghanistan and Iraq.Veterans Park of Effingham County is located at the corner of 1st Street and Hwy 21 next to Effingham Health System.
