Midshipman Christopher A. Perry, son of Marine Lt. Col. Curtis (Ret.) and Claudine Perry of Rincon, graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., in late May.
Perry earned a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering and a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and is currently attending The Basic School at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Va. Every Marine officer attends The Basic School to understand and apply the skills required of an infantry officer prior to proceeding on to specialty schools. Upon graduation from this course in January, he is scheduled to proceed to flight school for naval aviator training at Pensacola, Fla.
His younger brother Craig is also a midshipman and a member of the Naval Academy class of 2010. He is a history major. Perry is a former member of the Renegades baseball team of Effingham County
The Perry sons have chosen to follow in their father’s footsteps. Their father served as a Marine aviator, graduate of the Naval Academy, class of 1978. He is currently employed as a test pilot for Gulfstream Aerospace.
Both young men were homeschooled K-12 by their mother. The decision to homeschool was a result of a personal conviction to reinforce the fundamentals of being a follower of Jesus. Perry attributes his success in graduating to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
