DEXTER --The South Effingham Mustangs got hit with a gigantic snowball Friday night.

After playing toe-to-toe with West Laurens during a scoreless 20-plus minutes to start the game, the Mustangs were buried with an avalanche of big plays. The Raiders scored 13 points in the final 3:21 of the second quarter and tallied three touchdowns in the third period en route to a 34-2 victory that dropped the Mustangs to 0-4.

South Effingham, which has only two more games before Region 2-AAAAA play begins, couldn't muster much offense. Its points came via a safety when a snap sailed over the punter's head and through the end zone.

"Our players are going to have to decide what they want to do," South Effingham coach Donnie Revell said. "Do they want to get back to work Monday or are they ready to pack it in?
