SPRINGFIELD -- A big-time Effingham County softball player has opted for a small college that suits her taste.

On Friday morning in the Effingham County media center, catcher Cevana Wood signed a letter-of-intent at attend the College of Coastal Georgia.

"I didn't want to go to a big school," Wood said. "It used to be a two-year school, but now it's a four-year school. I went and toured it, and I loved the campus.

"I like being by the beach, and it's right by St. Simons (Island)."
