The Effingham County Rebels jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back against Screven County in Sylvania on Wednesday.

The Rebels stroked seven hits and benefitted from six errors in their 9-3 victory.

It was a Gamecocks defensive lapse that kickstarted the early onslaught. One error allowed two of the three first-inning runs.

The Rebels scored four times in the fifth inning, getting RBI hits from Jordan Rahn and Perry Fulcher.

Fulcher and teammate Jerid Stokes each collected two hits.

Colton Long was the winning pitcher. He allowed one run on three hits in four innings. Avery Elenbaas and Holden Fields handled the rest of the mound duties, allowing a combined one hit.
