State Speaker of the House David Ralston told a roomful of supporters Thursday morning how important he considers Ann Purcell to be to the General Assembly.

Ralston, a Republican from Blue Ridge, traveled several hours south to campaign on behalf of Rep. Purcell (R-Rincon) and fellow Effingham-based state representative Jon Burns.

“I really need, and you really need, Ann Purcell to come back to the House of Representatives,” Ralston told a crowd at Baibry’s. “I don’t know of anybody who loves their community and speaks up for the community like Ann Purcell does. I live a long way from here and there were a few communities down here I didn’t know much about it. But I know the encyclopedia now on some of these communities, thanks to Ann Purcell. She cares deeply about the people she represents, and she’s a great, great leader.”

Ralston was joined by Speaker pro tem Jan Jones (R-Alpharetta) in his visit. Also on hand were state Sens. Jack Hill (R-Reidsville) and Buddy Carter (R-Pooler) and state Reps. Bob Bryant (D-Garden City) and Mickey Stephens (D-Savannah).
