SPRINGFIELD — A hurdle that the Effingham Middle School football has cleared before is all that stands between it and a championship.

The 7-0 Panthers are slated to host Southeast Bulloch on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Coastal Empire Region title game at Rebel Field.

“This is kind of where we thought we would be, at this time of the year,” Panthers coach Mark Smith said.

Effingham County, which won the title last year with a perfect record, swatted the Yellow Jackets 32-16 in the second game of 2017.
