Vaccination eligibility list to expand March 8
COVID-19

Beginning March 8, approximately one million Georgians will be added to the eligibility list for COVID-19 vaccination. Gov. Brian Kemp announced the vaccine program expansion on Thursday.

Currently the following groups are eligible for COVID-19 vaccine in Georgia: healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, EMS personnel, environmental services, etc.),  residents and staff of long-term care facilities, adults aged 65+ and their caregivers, law enforcement, firefighters, first responder and funeral home workers who come into direct contact with the deceased

Beginning March 8, the following groups will also be eligible for COVID-19 vaccine: educators and school staff (Pre-K, K-12, early childcare programs), adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers, and parents of children with complex medical conditions

The Coastal Health District and your local county health departments have been communicating with public and private school systems to prepare for this announcement. It is planning several special vaccination events for educators and school staff. Additional details will be shared through the schools.

Anyone in the newly expanded phase may schedule an appointment if the appointment occurs on or after March 8. Anyone with an appointment that occurs prior to March 8 must meet the current eligibility requirements.
