Political newcomer and former University of Georgia football star Herschel Walker easily won Georgia's Republican Senate primary Tuesday. He earned a general election match against U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock.

In Effingham County, Walker garnered 7,559 votes. The rest of the field included Gary Black (1,021), Josh Clark (266), Kelvin King (142), Jonathan McColumn (184) and Latham Saddler (248).

Warnock crushed Tamara Johnson-Shealey in Effingham County 1,923-88.
