Expressing gratitude for memorial service

Dear Editor,

Thanks very much to Effingham County for your support and attendance of the Annual Community American Cancer Society Memorial/Honor Service held on Nov. 14. It was a service of remembrance for four citizens from our area who passed away and a teacher who was honored with a plaque.

Thanks to all who helped make the service successful. We appreciate the participation of Rev. Dr. Jerry Roe of Springfield United Methodist Church; Rev. Al Fernandez of Clyo Lutheran parish; Jessica Seagle, our Effingham community manager for the American Cancer Society; and Sandra White, local ACS volunteer. We are grateful to the Effingham County Board of Education and Superintendent Randy Shearouse for the use of the Board of Education Auditorium and Carolyn Conaway for preparing the area for our use. Special thanks to Joann’s Florist of Springfield for donating roses in paper for each of the families and the lovely fall decorations for our stage area. We thank this paper for your coverage of the event in this publication.

Thanks to our community for your support of the American Cancer Society. Hopefully one day with more research, education, early detection and treatment, these memorial services will no longer be necessary. Please support our yearly fundraiser Relay for Life next spring.
