GSU football kickoff coming

Georgia Southern Athletics, Harveys Supermarket and Coca-Cola have teamed up for the second annual “Football Kickoff” on Aug. 1 from 1-3 p.m. at the Harveys Supermarket on Fair Road in Statesboro. Coach Chris Hatcher, the Georgia Southern cheerleaders and Gus will help get fans in the spirit for the 2009 season.

From 1-2 p.m. Eagle fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet Coach Hatcher, get autographs and take photographs. Schedule cards for the Eagles football and volleyball teams will be available. Football season ticket orders will be accepted on site and representatives will be on hand to answer questions about ticket plan options and packages.

“Last year was the first time we hosted such an event and it was very well received and this year we are expecting an even bigger more turnout,” said Brent Jones, director of Eagle Sports Marketing. I cannot thank Harveys Supermarket and Coca-Cola enough for wanting to continue the event and for being such gracious hosts.”

Later that same day, at 7:30 p.m., Coach Hatcher and Georgia Southern Radio Network play by play man Chris Blair will chat with fans at Chili’s Grill and Bar. Chili’s Grill and Bar is on Commerce Drive off the bypass in Statesboro next to the new Holiday Inn.
