University of Georgia third baseman Colby May has been named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team, Collegiate Baseball announced Wednesday
A native of Guyton, May started all 62 games at third base for the Bulldogs and was second on the team with a .339 average. He hit 11 home runs, drove in 42 runs and was second on the team with 23 multiple RBI games.
May helped lead Georgia to a 38-24 record, its first in-season No. 1 ranking and its second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. It was the Bulldogs’ first back-to-back appearances in the NCAA postseason since 2001-02.
May, who was also named to the Southeastern Conference’s all-freshman team, is Georgia’s 21st freshman all-American and first since Gordon Beckham and Nathan Moreau in 2006.
