Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Josh Wilson went 8-for-12 to key a three-game weekend sweep of Shepherd at Pirate Field.
Wilson, an Effingham County High grad, drove in five runs and scored five runs, and his three-run homer in the first game sparked a 5-2 victory Friday.
Former South Effingham catcher John Roberts got the start in all three games behind the plate, going 0-for-6. Former Mustangs star Brandon McCreery picked up the save in the first game, striking out one in one inning. Jesse Osborne, a South Effingham alum, threw one perfect inning in relief in a 13-3 win Friday.
The Pirates (6-3) completed the three-game sweep with a 5-2 triumph Sunday.
AASU opens Peach Belt Conference play Saturday with a three-game set against Georgia College and State University.
