The South Effingham Mustangs sparkled at Swainsboro Diamond Day in Swainsboro on Saturday.
The Mustangs (4-2) dumped Screven County (1-2) and Washington County (1-3) 5-2 and 9-4, respectively.
Against Screven County, South Effingham moved into the lead for good in the second inning when Phillip Cooper plated Shane Chapman with a single. Chapman, running for pitcher Hunter Morgan, moved into scoring position on a double by Kaleb Johnson.
Cooper paced the Mustangs' six-hit attack with two base knocks and three RBI.
Hunter Morgan went the distance on the mound. He allowed four hits and struck out seven.
Johnson and Nick MIlbrandt were offensive catalysts against Washington County. They combined for seven of the Mustangs' 11 hits and added three RBI. They also scored a total of three runs.
Nick Duke matched Milbrandt's team-leading two RBI. Hunter Walthour paced South Effingham in runs scored with two.
Johnson was the winning pitcher, working five innings. He allowed four runs, one of which was earned, and struck out eight.
Maddox Shiell closed the game, allowing one hit in his two frames.
South Effingham is set to host Islands at 6 p.m. Monday.
