Richmond Hill surprises South Effingham

South Effingham dropped a 6-2 decision to Richmond Hill in the opening round of the Region 2-AAAAAA softball tourney at The Corral on Tuesday.

The Mustangs are set to take on Glynn Academy at noon today.

Richmond Hill, beaten twice by South Effingham during the regular season, limited the Mustangs to single runs in the first and fifth innings. They were driven in by Whitney Thompson and Chloe Turner.

The Mustangs collected only six hits. Avery Roddenberry had two of them.

Bailey Kendziorski absorbed the loss. She surrendered six runs on nine hits, including two homers, in 3 1/3 innings. She walked one and fanned three.

Haylee Johnson went the rest of the way in the circle, scattering two hits and strikeout four.
