South Effingham bounces Brunswick

As has become their trademark recently, the South Effingham Mustangs won a game after falling behind Monday.

The visiting Mustangs surrendered a pair of first-inning runs to but rallied to beat Brunswick 5-3 for their sixth straight win, improving their record to 8-2. The Pirates slipped to 5-5.

Hunter Morgan and Shane Chapman started the rally in the second frame by socking RBI hits. Chapman's safety was a double to right field.

South Effingham moved in front 3-2 an inning later when Nick Duke scored on a groundout. Duke opened the inning with a single and advanced to third base on a hit by Zach Zorbo. 

Zorbo collected three hits.

Nick MIlbrandt rounded out the Mustangs' scoring with an RBI hit and sacrifice fly in the fifth and seventh frames, respectively.

Mildbrandt was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits and two runs in 5 1/2 innings.

Morgan and Duke finished on the mound.

South Effingham will return to action at home Friday at 6 p.m. against Liberty County.
