Former Effingham County High School football standout Seth Goldwire continues to excel at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.

Goldwire made nine tackles, including two behind the line of scrimmage, in the Terriers’ 28-7 win at the Citadel.

Wofford improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Southern Conference.

Goldwire came up huge toward the end of the game. The Citadel drove inside the Terriers’ red zone, but Goldwire came up with a big stop on fourth down to prevent the Bulldogs from scoring.

For the season, Goldwire leads the team in tackles with 55. He has more than twice as many tackles as the second best tackler Don Tavani, who has 27.

Goldwire also has four tackles for loss, one sack, a fumble recovery and an interception.

The Terriers host Gardner-Webb in a non-conference game at Gibbs Stadium on Saturday. The game will begin at 1:30 pm.
