Alex Brown pounded five hits and Alexa Johanson added four more to lead South Effingham to a 7-1 Region 2-AAAAA softball victory over Wayne County in Jesup on Wednesday.

Allie Ergle and Cheyenne Miller also had multiple hits, getting two each, as the Lady Mustangs finished with 16 base knocks. The others were by Emily Laverenz, Hailey Pinette and ReAnn McCloy.

Rachel Mixon contributed an RBI without getting a hit.

Kastin Belogorska was the winning pitcher, fanning five Yellow Jackets with a walk.

South Effingham is 17-4 overall and  6-1 in 2-AAAAA.

The Lady Mustangs will conduct Senior Night on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. before another game against the Yellow Jackets.
