Rebels vaporize Tigers

Effingham County (23-5, 9-2) exploded for 10 first-inning runs and cruised to a 17-0 Region 2-AAAAAA baseball win against Bradwell Institute (2-23, 0-11) in Hinesville on Wednesday.

Twelve Rebels combined for 17 hits in the 3 1/2-inning game. Ryan Harley and and Christian Campbell led the attack with four and three hits, respectively. Dustin Johnson collected just one hit but it was a grand slam.

Harley and Campbell each scored twice, and Chrys Hawkins crossed the plate three times. Austin Mealor and Chase Howze also scored two runs.

Merritt Evans and Josh Bassett combined to limit the Tigers to two hits.
