Red Raiders to host Toombs in first round

The Savannah Christian Red Raiders will open the GHSA Class AA state football playoffs Friday night against Toombs County at Westside Stadium.

The Red Raiders (9-1) are the No. 2 seed from Region 2. Their only loss was to three-time defending state champ and region champion Charlton County.

SCPS beat Jeff Davis 37-0 to finish the regular season and lock up the No. 2 spot and a first-round home playoff game. The Red Raiders had 311 yards rushing and 367 total yards against the Yellow Jackets.

Toombs County (6-4) beat East Laurens 28-13 in the regular season finale to secure the No. 3 spot from Region 4 and break a three-game losing streak. The Bulldogs’ non-region loss came to Class A No. 1-ranked ECI 42-35 in overtime.
