Williford, Mustangs claim four-way win

Brett Williford shot a 37 and the South Effingham Mustangs posted a 153 total in a four-way golf match Thursday at Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville.

All four Mustangs players broke 40, with Dennis Reddick shooting a 38 and Blaine Bunch and Bobby Payne each recording a 39.

Effingham County was second with a 166. Bateman Hall’s 39 led the Rebels while Wheaton Hall shot 41 and Justin Beasley and Matt Johnson finished at 43.

Liberty County had a 197, led by Ben Floyd’s 40. John Floyd had a 41 and Wesley Herr and Louis Torres carded 58s. Bradwell came in at 245, led by Ryan Norris’ 52. Chu Kim shot 60, Jeremy Causeway had a 63 and Austin Keaton had a 70.

The Mustangs will take part in the Region 3-AAA tournament next, with the girls playing April 23 and the boys playing April 24 in Waynesboro. Effingham County will play next in the Region 3-AAAA tournament April 26 at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro.
