Guyton Elementary School celebrated the 108th birthday of famed children’s author Dr. Seuss on Friday with a parade of book characters.

Each pre-kindergarten through fifth grade class selected a book for the Read Across America parade, and students dressed as its characters. Nearly 30 books were represented, ranging from "Where the Wild Things Are" to "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever."

The parade along the walking trail from the school to the train caboose downtown included plenty of Cats in the Hat, Yertle the Turtles, Berenstein Bears, Sheeps in a Jeep, Very Hungry Caterpillars, Old Yellers and several of the 101 Dalmations.
