Effingham County High School Air Force JROTC had their three-year inspection on Nov. 28 by their area administrator, Col. John Vick, and received an exceeds standards rating, the highest rating possible.

Items inspected by Col. Vick included: equipment/resource management, unit operations, cadet operations, and instructors.

Cadet Col. Amie Perkins, cadet Lt. Col. Jackie Dester and cadet Maj. Tiras Thompson gave the unit briefing to Col. Vick. Some of the unit’s best practices included the reading club, the brag board, the giving of an Excalibur Sword to the best commander and the cadet evaluation system.

Cadets John Rodgers, Thomas Boyd and Louis Smalls received the Top Performer Ribbon and certificate, given to only 2 percent of the corps, based on their academics, achievements, and dedication to AF JROTC.
