Georgia Southern University has been named one of the most military friendly universities in the country in “Military Advanced Education’s 2012 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities.” Georgia Southern will be featured in the December 2011 issue of the publication.

As Georgia Southern has continued to grow in reputation and size, more and more members of the military including active, reserve, veterans and their dependents choose Georgia Southern for their college education.   In fact, more than 600 are currently pursuing their degrees at the Statesboro campus or online.

“Georgia Southern’s online degree programs have opened up an excellent opportunity for members of the military to pursue a respected degree on their own schedule, whether at home or deployed,” said Ted Moore, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs who is also a military vet who was awarded the Purple Heart.  “Georgia Southern’s location is ideal for soldiers who are stationed in Georgia.  The state is home to 15 military installations including Fort Stewart, Fort Benning and Robins Air Force Base. We have also had soldiers choose to earn their degrees online after being deployed to places like Afghanistan.”
