Local dance students compete in Atlanta

Elite Company Dancers from BDC-Britt’s Dance Company attended Hollywood Vibe, a regional competition in Atlanta.

Their group routines brought home two golds and two high silvers. They also had eight solos bring home high silvers.

This is a very high level competition. Choreographers have worked with Christina Aguilera, Cirque D’Soleil, Britney Spears, Celine Dion and Aerosmith and have performed industrial jobs for Disney films (“Finding Nemo” and “Monsters, Inc.”)

The Effingham County Board of Education approved a $203 million fiscal year 2026 budget Thursday night, reflecting an 11% increase over last year. The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
