On April 30, Mr. Ryan Daniel Millar was awarded the Albert F. Ligotti Trumpet Award by the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia.

The award and scholarship were established in 1998 as a tribute to Professor Ligotti’s contribution to the school of music as a performer and leader. The Ligotti Trumpet Award is given each year to an upperclassman who demonstrates the highest level of musicianship, leadership and dedication in the area of trumpet performance and pedagogy.

Mr. Millar, a 2003 graduate of Effingham County High School, is currently a senior at the University of Georgia, majoring in music education. He is a member of the UGA Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Redcoat Marching Band.

Mr. Millar is the son of Alan and Becky Millar.
