Registration under way for upcoming school year
6.26 Central Reg Center
The Central Registration building for the Effingham County School System is located on Ash Street in Springfield.

Students planning to attend an Effingham County school for the 2009-10 year who were not actively enrolled at a district school at the end of the 2008-2009 year must register through the district’s central registration center.

New families are asked to call 754-2530 to schedule an appointment as quickly as possible.

By registering early, you will avoid excessively long lines at the Central Registration Center and ensure that school records are received in a timely manner to allow for the appropriate academic placement of your child(ren) for the upcoming school year.

During these tough economic times, early registration is also appreciated by district staff as it helps the school system to make important staffing decisions for the upcoming school year.

The school system cannot guarantee that a schedule will be available for your child at open house if you do not register by July 22.

All registration requirements are located on the district Web site at www.effinghamschools.com beneath the student enrollment menu.  Plan to present all required documents at the time of registration, unless known to be included in the records transferring from the previous school.

While the school system is unable to accept academic and disciplinary records hand-delivered by the parent, you may contact the previous school and ask them to mail all available records to:  Effingham County Board of Education, Central Registration Center, 405 North Ash St., Springfield, GA  31329.

Parents must present a valid proof of residence at the time of registration in order for their children to be accepted as students. Students transferring from another state will not be processed until a valid Georgia Ear/Eye/Dental (EED) form and Georgia Immunization Certificate is presented, as these will not be available in records transferred from an out-of-state school.

All students attending a Georgia public school for the first time are required to have an ear/eye/dental examination.

Immunizations may or may not be required, but out-of-state immunization records must be reviewed by a health professional and transferred to a Georgia Immunization Form.  Please visit your private physician or the Effingham County Health Department to ensure necessary action is taken to meet these requirements. Appointments may be made with the Health Department by calling 754-6484.

Intra-district transfers

Students transferring from one Effingham County school to another must complete a change of address form (also available on the district Web site) and submit a valid proof of residency showing the new address. A new household registration form is also required if the household membership has changed (i.e., as a result of divorce, blending of families, etc.).

The required forms may be submitted to either the central registration center or the school your child will be attending for the 2009-10 school year.
